Homer Thrift

Homer Thrift is a nonprofit thrift store located at 1067 Ocean Drive in Homer, Alaska, operated by South Peninsula Haven House. Specializing in gently used furniture, clothing, and household goods, Homer Thrift originated in 2012 as an expansion of My Sister’s Closet, a small initiative providing essential items to clients rebuilding their lives after domestic violence. The store operates as both a community resource and a social enterprise, offering affordable shopping while generating proceeds that directly fund Haven House’s services including safe shelter, crisis intervention, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. Homer Thrift actively engages the community through volunteer opportunities, partnership with the Mature Alaskans Seeking Skills Training program to provide employment for older adults, and special initiatives such as free holiday shopping for children and Easter egg hunts for children with disabilities. All revenue supports Haven House’s mission to serve women, children, and families across the southern Kenai Peninsula.
