The Western Hardware
About
The Western Hardware is a historic antique mall located at 431 Harrison Avenue in downtown Leadville, Colorado, at an elevation of 10,200 feet. Originally established in 1881 as the Manville and McCarthy Hardware and Miners Supply Company, the building became known as Western Hardware in 1920 and operated as a working hardware store for over 100 years until 1996. Today, the two-story, 10,000-square-foot building houses an antique marketplace featuring more than 70 antique dealers and consignors offering mining and Western memorabilia, bottles, glassware, coins, toys, vintage clothing, jewelry, furniture, and various collectibles. The building retains many of its original fixtures, including a distinctive wall of over 1,000 drawers that once held hardware supplies, along with original countertops, floors, and quarter-sawn oak display cases. The Western Hardware operates as a commercial antique business rather than a nonprofit and serves as a popular tourist attraction and shopping destination in Leadville’s historic downtown area.
