About

Mill Creek Antiques, located at 109 Newbury Avenue in Paxico, Kansas, has been buying, selling, and trading unique and rare antiques since its founding in 1973. Owner Steve Hund Jr., a lineal descendant of Paxico’s first German founders, began the business after restoring antique wood-burning stoves and has built it into the largest stove restoration business in the Midwest. The shop occupies a historic 1886 building in downtown Paxico and specializes in restoring and selling authentic antique wood and coal-burning stoves from the 1850s to 1920s, while also featuring an extensive collection of antique lighting, Victorian furniture, and other period pieces. Beyond its commercial success, Mill Creek Antiques has played a pivotal role in revitalizing downtown Paxico—its owner improved the basement to serve as a community gathering space for music performances and events, inspiring other antique dealers to establish businesses in the town and transforming it into a major shopping destination that attracts thousands of visitors annually.
