Prairie Trading Company

Prairie Trading Company is a consignment store located at 2900 SW Oakley Avenue, Suite M in Topeka, Kansas, that specializes in buying and selling new and pre-owned designer and name-brand clothing for women and men, along with furniture and accessories. Founded in 1998 by Stephanie Stromgren, the business has been operating for nearly three decades and works with over 500 active consignors who provide quality items for sale. The store adds more than 300 new items to its inventory each week and is currently owned by Kristen O’Shea, who purchased the business in June 2023 along with her husband Gabriel. Prairie Trading Company contributes to the local community by paying consignors a portion of their items’ sale value, with the owner noting that the store writes approximately 180 checks monthly to consigners she refers to as “mini entrepreneurs,” thereby spreading economic impact throughout Shawnee County and beyond.
