Fair Tide

Founded in 1998, Fair Tide is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing homelessness in the Seacoast region of Maine and New Hampshire. Located at 22 Shapleigh Road on the Mainspring Campus in Kittery, Maine, Fair Tide provides comprehensive services including permanent supportive housing, case management, and emergency assistance to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The organization owns and manages multiple affordable housing units throughout the Seacoast, with residents paying 30% of their income toward rent under the Housing First model. Fair Tide operates a thrift store that serves as both a community resource for affordable clothing and housewares and a critical funding source for their housing programs, with all profits directed toward supporting their mission. The thrift store, which opened to the public in 2003, grew from community donations to the original housing residents and continues to rely on generous in-kind contributions from local supporters. Additionally, Fair Tide co-founded Mainspring, a social services collective that brings multiple agencies together to provide collaborative care to the community.
