Across the Street

Across the Street is an antiques and collectibles shop located at 12 Center Street in downtown Brandon, Vermont, owned by Janet and Joel Mondlak. The business opened in May 2020 and features an eclectic assortment of vintage items, antiques, and newer treasures ranging from small $1 items to furniture and art pieces, with inventory that encompasses more than a century’s worth of collectibles. Joel Mondlak has been buying and selling antiques in the Brandon area since the late 1980s, and the couple decided to establish a permanent brick-and-mortar location after initially planning it as a temporary pop-up shop. In addition to their physical store, which expanded to include the former Aubuchon Hardware space, the Mondlaks operate a thriving online business with over 1,300 active listings under the name Vermont Eye Candy, and they work with other vintage dealers to offer diverse merchandise.
