Shalom Shuk, The Marketplace of Peace, is a thrift store located at 188 North Prospect Street in Burlington, Vermont, operated by Ohavi Zedek Synagogue. The store specializes in gently used clothing, designer items, vintage pieces, and household goods at affordable prices. Founded in 1999, Shalom Shuk serves as the synagogue’s “giving arm,” functioning as a social justice initiative dedicated to building bridges between people of all religious, social, and economic backgrounds. The store works closely with the immigrant and refugee communities, providing essential clothing and household items to help newcomers establish themselves in Vermont, and distributes thousands of dollars in vouchers annually to those in need. A portion of sales proceeds is donated to local charities serving the Burlington area.
