Thrifty Sisters

Thrifty Sisters is a nonprofit thrift store located at 8911 Patterson Avenue in Henrico, Virginia, that has been serving the community since opening its doors in December 2012. Founded in the spirit of St. Jeanne Jugan and the Little Sisters of the Poor’s mission to help the elderly in need, the store operates as a volunteer-powered establishment dedicated to supporting Saint Francis – Manchester, an assisted living community providing affordable care to older adults with limited financial means. The store offers a carefully curated selection of clothing, home goods, books, and other quality merchandise donated by community members, with all net proceeds benefiting the assisted living facility. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Thrifty Sisters has developed a significant following throughout the Richmond area and was recognized as runner-up in the thrift shop category in the 2017 Richmond Times-Dispatch “Best of Richmond” competition. The business relies on donations, volunteer support, and community shoppers who help sustain its mission to provide compassionate care for the elderly while promoting sustainable shopping practices.
