Needful Things Emporium
About
Needful Things Emporium is a family-owned multi-vendor retail destination located at 218 West Washington Street in downtown Charles Town, West Virginia. Founded in 1968 and evolved over three generations, the business now operates as an indoor shopping emporium featuring over 70 independent vendor booths showcasing handcrafted items, unique gifts, vintage goods, local products, and artisan creations including candles, charcuterie boards, Belgian chocolate, fresh flowers, and specialty items. The business is housed in the historic St. George building, erected in 1850, which previously served as a dry goods store and Newberry’s department store before being purchased by the Masemer family in 1994. Current owner Melissa Glascock transformed the business model following the pandemic into the current emporium format to better serve the community and provide a one-stop shopping experience that celebrates local artisans and small business entrepreneurs. The store actively participates in downtown Charles Town community events and serves as a business incubator for local vendors.
