Old Stone House

The Old Stone House is an eclectic gift shop housed in Monongalia County’s oldest stone structure, built around 1795 and located at 313 Chestnut Street in downtown Morgantown. Owned and operated by the Service League of Morgantown since 1935, the shop offers West Virginia made items, handcrafted goods, used books, and local food products, with all proceeds supporting local charities and community outreach. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Old Stone House serves both as a retail destination and a vital piece of Morgantown’s heritage, having previously functioned as a fort, tavern, courthouse, pottery, tannery, and Methodist church throughout its rich history.
